A rinse once or twice a month can be just the thing to revitalize your hair, but finding the right rinse regimen and consistently sticking to it can be difficult. Here are two popular rinses you might want to try:
Apple cider vinegar. Hair rinse made with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and cooled distilled (or boiled) water closes your strands’ cuticle layer to maintain moisture. This also adds shine and elasticity to your hair to give your tresses that desired extra bounce. (Basic recipe: Use one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to one cup of water. From there, increase the amount of the vinegar based on your results.) After you’ve soaked your hair with the mixture, wash tresses with cool water and apply conditioner as you normally would. This is also a good opportunity to detangle strands.
Flat beer. Find a decent dark beer—these have the most nutrients and natural sugars—and allow it to go flat at room temperature. Use this flat beer as a rinse after shampooing and conditioning. Simply soak your hair with the beer; let it sit for a few minutes then rinse tresses with cold water. (Cold water reduces the beer odor.) Next, enjoy that extra glossy shine and volume.
