U.S. Representative Barbara Lee (D–Calif.) introduced a resolution expressing support for continued international cooperation to combat HIV/AIDS, according to a Lee statement. The resolution is cosponsored by Rep. Jim McDermott (D–Wash.) and Rep. Trent Franks (R–Ariz.) who are both co-chairs of the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus, and Rep. Howard Berman (D–Calif.), Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R–Fla.), Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) and Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D–DC). H.Con.Res. 131 recognizes the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012), which is being held July 21 to 25 in Washington, DC, as a unique opportunity to change the course of the epidemic.
