A former Burger King manager has filed a lawsuit in federalcourt claiming the fast-food company fired him because he has HIV, TheHuffington Post reports. Christopher Pena, a seven-year staffer, said thecompany let him go after he disclosed his status to a supervisor and that thedismissal violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. Though he originallystruggled with his decision to disclose, Pena ultimately decided to tell hissupervisor in case he needed time off from work for health-related reasons.Three months later, he was fired for allegedly poor work performance thoughPena claimed he had never before been disciplined or warned. Burger King hasnot yet filed a response in court to Pena’s claim.
