Proceeds from the sale of Sir Elton John’s new book, Love Is the Cure: Ending the Global AIDS Epidemic, will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF), according to an EJAF statement. In the book, John opens up about the many friends he has lost to AIDS and provides a personal account of how friendships with Ryan White, Freddie Mercury, Princess Diana and Elizabeth Taylor encouraged him to establish and develop EJAF. The foundation has focused on supporting HIV prevention, treatment and service programs and on ending HIV stigma. Founded in the early ’90s, EJAF has raised more than $275 million. The memoir also serves as a manifesto calling for more resources in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
