Actress and HIV/AIDS advocate Lupe Ontiveros has died after a brief battle with liver cancer, the Washington Post reports. She was 69. Ontiveros is known for her memorable roles in movies and TV shows such as Desperate Housewives and Real Women Have Curves, but she is perhaps best known for starring alongside Jennifer Lopez in the biopic Selena. She played Yolanda Saldivar, the woman who was convicted of killing Selena Quintanilla. When she was not acting, Ontiveros was an advocate for Latino health and social justice issues. In a statement, the Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA) memorialized her support of its HIV testing initiatives and its promotion of National Latino AIDS Awareness Day.
