The number of new HIV cases in Minnesota dropped 12 percentin one year, the Brainerd Dispatch reports. A total of 292 new HIV cases werereported in the state in 2011 compared with 331 cases in 2010, according to anew report from the Minnesota Department of Health. But health officialscautioned that certain groups have seen increases: HIV cases among women rose 9percent, with women of color making up 81 percent of all new cases; young males13 to 24 years old accounted for 22 percent of all new male cases; and allracial/ethnic populations saw a decrease in cases except African-born males,who saw a 31 percent increase.
