President Barack Obama will commemorate World AIDS Day, which is held annually on December 1, by speaking at an event in Washington, DC, called “The Beginning of the End of AIDS,” according to a White House statement. Obama will be joined via satellite by former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Hosted by the ONE Campaign and (RED), the event will mark the progress made in expanding treatment to millions of people living with the virus during the past 10 years. Other participants will include Bono, Alicia Keys, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R–Fla.), U.S. Representative Barbara Lee (D–Calif.) and President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania. A panel of policy makers and experts will also discuss the challenges of expanding treatment further. The event will begin at 10 A.M. at George Washington University.
