Samuel Serrano-Gonzalez, a 28-year-old HIV-positive man from Waterford, New York, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his ex-girlfriend and attempting to transmit HIV, The Saratogian reports. Serrano-Gonzalez was convicted of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend with a knife and then raping her, and the prosecution argued that he had also intended to give her the virus. The victim, who was not named in the article, is still being tested for HIV and has not yet been given a definitive positive or negative diagnosis.
