Saturday, May 19, marks the seventh annual National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Organizations around the country dedicated to providing HIV/AIDS services to Asian and Pacific Islanders will host events to raise awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS-related stigma, according to the Banyan Tree Project, which established the event. This day is one of 11 federally recognized HIV/AIDS Awareness Days throughout the year. The Banyan Tree Project is a national social marketing campaign to stop HIV/AIDS stigma in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
