HIV prevention billboards in South Los Angeles portraying two shirtless black men have been replaced with ads denouncing homophobia by displaying that word in crossed-out capital letters, the Los Angeles Times reports. The ads were developed by the advocacy group In the Meantime Men and paid for by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. The new ads seek to highlight homophobia as one of the key factors why HIV rates are high among gay black men.
