A new survey by the Pew Research Center shows that a majority of Americans favor legalizing the use of marijuana, according to a Pew statement. This is the first time in more than four decades of polling on this issue that a majority favors legalization. The survey found that 52 percent support marijuana legalization and 45 percent do not. A 1969 Gallup survey found that only 12 percent supported it. Support has risen 11 points since 2010.
