Men and women who are secretly unfaithful in a relationship or marriage are less likely to practice safer sex than people who are honest about having sex outside a relationship, according to a new study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine and reported by MyHealthNewsDaily. Researchers surveyed about 800 people in nonmonogamous relationships about condom and contraceptive use and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. Findings showed that unfaithful participants who do not disclose additional sexual relationships to a primary partner were significantly less likely to have protected sex and were also less likely to be frequently tested for STIs when compared with people who are open about having multiple sexual partners.
