The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) has received $7 million from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to study the links between substance use and HIV among African-American and Latino men who have sex with men (MSM), according to a UCLA statement. Researchers will specifically examine how alcohol and non-injected drugs directly interact with HIV and other infectious diseases, and how that interaction damages the health of minority MSM. Study enrollment begins in January.
