A well-balanced diet can help to provide nutrients that safeguard against hormones that might stimulate fibroid growth. Also, note that certain foods, such as soybeans, tofu, tempeh, soy beverages, sesame seeds, wheat, berries, oats, barley, dried beans, among others, contain phytoestrogens, bioactive compounds that may mimic estrogen in the body. In addition, some researchers have found that growth hormones in red meat may be associated with an increased risk for fibroids. According to investigators, consumption of these foods, as well as soybeans, soy milk, tofu and flaxseed, should be avoided or reduced. Finally, alcohol may also increase fibroid risk by raising hormone levels.
