Play the Name Game
One recent study found that as many as 75 percent of patients can’t name any doctor who took care of them in the hospital. Elizabeth Bailey, a patient advocate and author of The Patient’s Checklist, says knowing the names of the doctors and nurses who treat you is the best defense against feeling like just another anonymous patient. Using names encourages the human connection. Knowing names also helps create the sense that everyone is on the same team to provide you with the best care.
