Nelsan Ellis
In the summer, Ellis, who played Lafayette Reynolds on the HBO vampire series True Blood died at age 39 of complications from heart failure related to alcohol withdrawal. His father shared in an announcement that Ellis’s attempt to kick an addiction to booze on his own might have resulted in delirium tremens (DTs), dangerous and unpredictable changes in heart rate or blood pressure that can lead to heart attack, stroke or death.
